Week 1 Lecture and Exercise
After learning about elements and principles of design, it was time to apply what we learned. Below are 3 designs I have chosen for our first exercise: 1) From Givenchy Couture SS20 i) Colour: The blue makes the clothes stand out from the model's skin colour. ii) Silhouette: The silhouette is complicated because of the layers of the design. iii) Unity: The entire design is made of the same fabric, which shows how the whole design comes together as one piece. 2) From Iris van Herpen Fall 2017 i) Line: The entirety of this outfit is made of lines, which is its main focus. ii) Balance: The design is symmetrical. iii) Unity: The whole outfit is made of the same vibes and colour. 3) From Nguyen Minh Cong i) Scale: The jacket has oversized lapels which gives it a unique look. ii) Texture: The jacket has flowers made of fabrics which gives it a interesting texture. iii) Colour: The outfit has an analogous colour palette, which consists of blues, purples and pinks.
